Mahmoud Mostafa

Mahmoud Mostafa is an Arabic calligrapher and visual artist based in Alexandria, Egypt. Through his work he aims to open the multi secular art of calligraphy to modernity and confront tradition and contemporary art. Persuaded that aesthetic emotion can be universally shared, he tries to overcome cultural boundaries to reveal the transcendental beauty of calligraphy. 

Born in Alexandria in 1993, Mahmoud Mostafa started practicing Arabic calligraphy at a very young age. After graduating from the Faculty of Engineering he decided to fully devote his life and career to the art of calligraphy. Today, in addition to his creative work, M. Mostafa is working as a calligraphy instructor and has held workshops in different places including AUC. He has won several international prizes in calligraphy and has exhibited in numerous local and international exhibitions like Sharjah Calligraphy Biennal in UAE, in America, Russia and Germany.
